【Outline】
OMEGAMONITOR is designed to measure tissue blood volume and its oxygenation in muscle,
brains and internal organs. The consumption of oxygen in tissue and metabolism can be evaluated by using OMEGAMONITOR. OMEGAMONITOR uses semiconductor lasers which have narrow width of the wavelength, and it allows high S/N ratio measurement. The small change of blood volume can be obtained because of our original laser stability system. |
【Theory】
OMEGAMONITOR irradiates 2 or 3 laser lights to the tissue under study through
the optical fiber probe. The lights are scattered
and absorped in the tissue, and a part of the scattred lights are detected by the detector which is put on the tissue at the distance of a few cm from the probe. The absorption in the tissue is mainly caused by haemoglobins, and the absorption spectra of oxy-haemoglobin and deoxy-haemoglobin is different. The oxyganated blood volume and deoxygenated blood volume are calculated from the different changes of the detected laser light intensity. The measurement depth is related to the distance between the incidence and treceiving, and the maximam depth is almost the same as the distance. |
